Day Two! I am loving the challenge of a poem a day. They are not perfect, but things are moving in my brain. I love the feeling of having something creative to work with. Here is my second poem.
My daughter has made a paper doll version of me,
wearing blue tights and a belt
and a shirt with a peace sign,
sort of Wonder Woman.
I wanted to make you look very fancy,
and this is your curly hair.
I remember my own mother’s flaming red
Reeboks flying on the treadmill
each morning as I woke.
We may not get to choose
whose Wonder Woman we are,
or if we want to be one.
We are eating mochi ice cream
before bedtime. The mochi
feels like your cool cheek,
she opines. In everyone, there is
something at which to wonder.
